Personal development

For those who want more than to start over

For professionals who are stuck, recovering from burnout, or sensing they took the wrong turn — and have no appetite for another round with the same patterns.

With a career question you have two options: look for a new job that may repeat the same patterns, or look deeper at what lies beneath those patterns. JANE offers the second. It is not a work methodology, not a LinkedIn strategy, but a fundamental insight into which function and which pitfalls make you who you are — so that you then look at work with different eyes.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You've already had two or three jobs in a row that fell apart over something similar.
  • You're recovering from burnout and don't want to fall into the same trap again.
  • You wonder why you lose so much energy on things that are supposed to look good.
  • You feel that the career coaches so far mainly gave CV advice, not self-knowledge.

What Jane® does for you

A diagnosis, not job-application training.

JANE starts not from 'what could I do' but from 'what am I' — a distinction that makes the difference between a repetition of patterns and real change.

Insight into patterns that travel along between jobs.

Step 3 (blind spot / compensation talent) reveals why the same behaviour keeps coming back — regardless of which employer you have.

Translation into concrete career choices.

The journey results in a Jane diagram that is directly linked to fields of work, roles and employment arrangements that genuinely suit you.

A foundation for follow-up conversations.

Many clients use the Jane diagram later in conversations with career coaches, headhunters or managers — as a shared language.

What does the journey look like?

  1. 1

    Intake conversation

    1 hour

Getting acquainted, defining the scope and clarifying your central question.

  2. 2

    Step 1 — Who I am not

    1.5 hours + homework

Which functions and roles have you fulfilled that weren't yours — and what did that cost you?

  3. 3

    Step 2 — Who I am

    1.5 hours + homework

Identifying your core functions with a direct career translation.

  4. 4

Step 3 — What holds me back

    2 hours + homework

The patterns you brought to every job, and why they keep coming back.

  5. 5

    Career translation

    1.5 hours

A Jane diagram + concrete career directions + a discussion with your network environment.

  6. 6

    Follow-up after 3 and 6 months

    2 × 1 hour

A check-in to see how the insights land in a new work situation.

This fits you if…

  • You are facing a career choice or coming out of a burnout.
  • You already have some self-reflection behind you and now want to go a step deeper.
  • You have the space (mentally and financially) to spend 2–3 months on yourself.
  • You are willing to receive answers that are fundamentally different from what you expected.

Less suitable if…

  • You mainly need CV advice or job-application training.
  • You want a new job within a few weeks, not reflection.
  • You haven't recovered sufficiently from absence yet — hold off on this for now.

The method behind this journey

Since 2010 JANE has been explicitly applied to career questions, with its own subfolder of presentation material within the methodology (8 'Career' documents). Clients range from mid-career professionals reorienting themselves to managers after a dismissal or burnout. Clients often use the Jane diagram as a reference point for years after the journey.

Frequently asked questions

Isn't this the same as an outplacement programme?

No. Outplacement is aimed at a new job within a short time. JANE first goes deeper, and then provides precisely the basis that makes outplacement more effective.

Does JANE work together with my employer, or is this entirely personal?

By default entirely personal and confidential. In some cases an employer (or the UWV) can fund a journey — that is only on your initiative and in consultation.

What if the outcome is that I'd be better off going independent?

That happens regularly. JANE shows what works in you — what you make of that in terms of employment arrangement is your choice.

How long does it take?

8–12 weeks for the core journey, plus follow-ups at 3 and 6 months.

One last step

A career question deserves more than a list of vacancies. Schedule an intake conversation and discover what makes the difference — for yourself and for your next step.
